Correct page orientation precisely
Rotation in a PDF is an instruction attached to a page, not a change to its contents. That is why turning a page here is instant on a 400-page file and why the text inside it stays selectable afterwards — nothing was redrawn.
A page range means only the sheets that are actually wrong get touched, which is the usual case: one scanner tray fed sideways in the middle of a document. Existing rotation is read first and the new angle is applied on top, so a page already turned once ends up where the number says.
Because the instruction is metadata, a viewer that ignores it will still show the page as it was scanned. Most do not ignore it. If a document has to be correct even in software that does, it needs re-rendering rather than rotating, and that is a different tool.
Frequently asked questions about Rotate PDF
Can I rotate only the pages that are wrong?
Yes. Give the page numbers, such as 2, 5-8. A scan where only the landscape sheets came out sideways can be fixed without touching the rest.
What happens to pages that are already rotated?
The turn is added to the rotation the page already has, so a page at 90 degrees turned by another 90 ends up at 180 rather than back at zero.
Does the text stay selectable afterwards?
Yes. Only the page's rotation setting changes; the content is untouched and stays vector-based, so nothing becomes an image.
